Black hen 'Kadaknath'
The Karaknath is an Native american breed of chicken local to the Madhya Pradesh area, where it is known as "Kali masi" ("fowl having black flesh"). The Kadaknath is popular mainly for its versatility, and the good-tasting dark-colored meat, which is believed to try out vigor. Its color arises from the deposition of melanin pigment.
The parrots are completely black: dark plumage with a greenish iridescence, black legs and toe nails, black beak and tongue, black brush and wattles, black various meats and bones and even dark organs.
As a result of meat's alleged medicinal properties, it is in high demand. To save lots of the breed from extinction, the state authorities started a Kadaknath hen breeding program involving five-hundred BPL families, who were to receive financial support and assistance
