Momordica charantia
Momordica charantia, known as unhealthy melon, bitter gourd, poisonous squash, or balsam-pear, is a tropical and semitropical vine of the family Cucurbitaceae, widely grown in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean for its ready-to-eat fruit. Its many kinds differ substantially in the condition and bitterness of it. Bitter melon also has names in other languages which have moved into English as loanwords, electronic. g. goya from Okinawan, p? kal in Tamil and karela from Sanskrit. Those from the Carribbean island of Jamaica commonly refer to the flower as cerasee. In Brazil this plant is called Saint Cajetan's Melons
Bitter melon originated in India and was introduced into China in the fourteenth century. It is generally used in East Hard anodized cookware, South Asian, and Southeast Asian cuisine.
